Nerja - Costa del Sol

Living in Nerja

Authentic Spanish charm on the eastern Costa del Sol.

What it's like

Nerja feels different from the western Costa del Sol. The town has genuine Spanish character, with a beautiful old centre, the famous Balcón de Europa promenade jutting over the sea, and small beaches tucked into rocky coves. There's less obvious wealth, fewer luxury cars, and more traditional Spanish life. The pace is slower. The expat community is established but more integrated with Spanish life than in Marbella. The spectacular Nerja caves and the dramatic coastal scenery of the Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs add natural beauty. It's 50 minutes from Málaga airport but feels like a different world from Marbella.
