What it's like

Fuengirola is the most practical town on the Costa del Sol for everyday living. It has a proper Spanish feel with a bustling town centre, traditional markets, and locals outnumbering tourists most of the year. The 7km beach promenade is perfect for walks and cycling. The train station connects you to Malaga airport and city in 45 minutes. There's a large British and Scandinavian expat community, but also a strong Spanish presence. It's not glamorous like Marbella, but it's friendly, affordable, and has everything you need. The zoo, water park, and castle make it particularly good for families on a budget.
